Three student-athletes stood out from the pack in the second week of the 2025 Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League season. Southampton’s Collin Quintano (Villanova) was named the Pepsi Player of the Week. In addition, Sag Harbor’s Trey Zaffiro (Lafayette) and North Fork’s Cristian Rodriguez (Pace) were named the ACE Hardware Co-Pitchers of the Week.
Quintano was the hottest hitter in the HCBL in Week 2, batting .571 for the week with two home runs and 12 RBI. On June 21st against Sag Harbor, Quintano went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI and drove in the game-winning RBI in the Breakers' 7-6 win.
Quintano followed that performance the next day in the first game of a doubleheader against Westhampton, where he had a home run and six RBI as the Breakers came back from a 10-2 deficit to win by a final score of 15-11. Quintano, as of June 29th, currently leads the HCBL in home runs (4) and RBI (19).
Zaffiro made history on June 19th for the Sag Harbor Whalers in the inaugural Montauk Classic against the Shelter Island Bucks, where he hurled a five-inning no-hitter in an 11-0 Whalers victory. Zaffiro struck out seven Bucks batters while only allowing one baserunner on a walk in the fourth inning. The no-hitter was the first of two thrown by the Whalers so far this season.
Rodriguez made two appearances on the mound in Week 2 on June 19th against Westhampton and on June 25th against Shelter Island. For the week, Rodriguez went 7.2 innings with an ERA of 1.17 while only allowing one run on five hits. The Bronx native struck out five batters in Week 2 while only allowing a walk.
