Southampton 8, Shelter Island 0
The Southampton Breakers continued their climb up the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League standings with an 8-0 shutout victory over the Shelter Island Bucks on Friday evening at Fiske Field. Powered by a dominant pitching performance from Kevin Baez (Thomas Jefferson) and a three-RBI effort from Collin Quintano (Villanova), the Breakers improved to 7-4-2 on the season.
Baez (1–1) was in complete control, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while striking out four and walking three. Giacomo Travaglia (Fordham) closed the door with a perfect seventh to seal the combined shutout,
Southampton took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings, but the game broke wide open in the seventh. Leading 2-0, the Breakers poured on six runs in the top of the final frame, highlighted by a two-run home run from Collin Quintano — his league-leading fourth of the season.
Nick Slogik (Rowan College at Gloucester) added a two-run single earlier in the inning, while Luke Treese (Haverford) and Brett Walmsley (Delaware) also chipped in with RBIs to complete the offensive outburst.
North Fork 4, South Shore 2
The North Fork Ospreys continued their strong campaign atop the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League standings with a 4–2 win over the South Shore Clippers on Friday at William Floyd High School. Behind five strong innings from starter Joey Citrangola (Herkimer County CC) and a clutch three-RBI performance from Thomas Matuszewski (Mount St. Mary’s), the first-place Ospreys held off a mid-game rally to notch their eighth win of the season.
After both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings, North Fork broke through in the top of the fourth with three runs. RBI hits from Nick Pratt (UMBC) and Matuszewski put the Ospreys ahead 3–0. Matuszewski, who went 2-for-2 with a walk, later added a key RBI double in the sixth, extending the Ospreys' lead to 4–2.
Steven Kienzle (Southern New Hampshire) and Brendan Duffy (SUNY Oneonta) each added doubles to contribute to North Fork’s seven-hit effort, while Christian Rodriguez (Pace) scored a run and swiped a base.
The Clippers answered in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring two runs — one on an RBI single from Larry Hotaling (Villanova) and another on an Osprey defensive miscue. But that would be all for South Shore, who were held hitless over the final three innings.
Diego Reilly-Bell (Fordham), who pitched the last two innings in relief of Citrangola, earned the save for North Fork
