GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - June 23, 2025
Tanner Powell - Flag City Sluggers - South Arkansas CC
Tanner Powell went 10-for-17 at the plate for a .588 batting average helping to lead the Sluggers to a 4-1 record for the week. Powell also scored six runs, drove in three RBIs and stole two bases. He started the week hot with a 4-for-4 performance on June 17 during a 6-1 win over the Grand Lake Mariners.
Powell is now leading the GLSCL in batting average hitting a scolding .500 through the first three weeks of the season going 17-for-34 at the plate.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native recently competed his second season at South Arkansas Community College. His freshman season the Stars played in the 2024 JUCO World Series and this past spring were the 2025 NJCAA Region 2 Champions. Powell has not decided yet but is still looking for an opportunity to play at a four-year school next season.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Gus Gandy - Xenia Scouts - Samford University
Gus Gandy went 7-for-15 for a .458 batting average with a .519 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage. Gandy, who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored on June 17 versus the Michigan Monarchs.
Christopher Roa - Hamilton Joes - Miami University
Christopher Roa hit a .462 batting average (6-for-13) with a .518 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage. His production included a double, a triple, a stolen base and three RBIs.
Braydon Kersey - Lima Locos - Mercer University
Braydon Kersey went 10-for-22 at the plate for a .454 batting average with two home runs and six RBIs. Kersey added eight runs scored to his week-long resume that spanned six games. Kersey hit both of his homers in the same game, a 12-6 win over the Southern Ohio Copperheads on June 21.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
