Jurassic Loss To Scouts On 7/1
Date: Jul 2, 2025
Out with the old, in with the new! The Southern Ohio Copperheads are ringing in the 2025 season with a fresh, exciting twist, and it all starts with Homer.
The team’s beloved mascot is coming out of hibernation this year with a bold new look. After a long winter spent in the bear caves of Australia, Homer is taking a well-deserved break from his wild snake-wrangling escapades to return to his true passion: cheering on the Cheads.
While fans look forward to seeing Homer on the field, his return goes beyond the ballpark.
“Homer will be at nearly 20 community events, including little league opening games, local libraries, and more,” said Derrick Welsh, Director of Community Outreach and Events for the Copperheads. “And he will be at the first game of the season!”
In fact, Athens locals won’t have to wait for the summer to see him in action. You can find him around town and later in the summer, Homer will join young athletes at the OhioHealth Hitting and Pitching Clinic on June 28th, hyping them up as they sharpen their skills on the diamond. Then, on July 7th, he’ll take part in the action at Ray’s Days Wiffle Ball Game, an event that blends local spirit, friendly competition, and community pride. Homer will not only pump up the crowd but also remind everyone of the Copperheads’ dedication to supporting local talent. No matter the occasion, Homer is ready to show up, spread smiles, and represent the Copperheads wherever he goes.
Homer isn’t just the team’s mascot, he’s the heart of the Copperheads' fan experience. Get ready for a season full of unforgettable moments, because with Homer leading the charge, the Copperheads are bringing the game, and the spirit of the team, closer to home. Don't miss the Southern Ohio Copperheads’ first game of the season on Friday, June 6th.
