The Copperheads took on the Mariners on Wednesday, July 9. The game started off rough, with starting pitcher Jack Leonard supplying the Mariners with a few walks as well as a hit-by-pitch allowing them to capitalize on their loaded bases and ending the inning with a 5-0 lead.

In the second inning Dylan Klein took over the mound. The Mariners got a home run that extended their lead to 6-0. During the bottom, Ronnie Rowley hit a single but got caught trying to steal second. Tylan Graves secured a walk but wasn’t able to return home.

Klein settled in during the 3rd, holding the Mariners scoreless with a nice double play in the infield. The Copperheads also remained scoreless, even with back-to-back walks from Hauruta Endo and Jake Fix.

Logan Martin took over on the mound in the 4th and delivered a strong performance, including a strikeout and multiple quick innings. Still, the Mariners managed to obtain another run in the 7th with a double after a hit-by-pitch, stretching the lead to 8–0.

The Copperheads finally got on the board in the bottom of the 7th. Jack Ferguson received a walk, stole second, and finally made it home.

Despite singles from Endo and Rowley and a walk from Ferguson in the 9th, the Copperheads couldn’t make a comeback. The mound was hot with Jacob Ruiz and Tylan Graves both pitching multiple strikeouts and holding the Mariners from scoring. The final score of the night was 8-1 with the Mariners taking the win.
