Tough Loss Against Monarchs, 13-1

Date:  Source: Southern Ohio Copperheads

The Southern Ohio Copperheads fell to the Michigan Monarchs on Thursday night in a tough 13–1 loss at Bob Wren Stadium.

During the first three innings the Monarchs stole a whopping six bases allowing them to obtain a 6-0 lead by the bottom of the third. The Copperheads also stole multiple bases with Billy Adams stealing second during the first and Will Heisler stealing second in the second, but unfortunately neither were able to make it home.

Michigan kept the pressure on in the fourth with back-to-back doubles, adding three more runs to make it 9–0. Jack Ferguson hit a single and Brendan Willadsen walked, but the inning ended with both still on base.

The Monarchs added three more runs in the fifth, furthering the lead to 12–0. Southern Ohio finally got on the board when Reed Woodland was hit by a pitch and worked his way around to score. Billy Adams chipped in another single but got caught stealing second.

Ronnie Rowley stepped up to pitch the last couple innings and held things down, giving up just one run and picking up a couple of strikeouts. Offensively, the Copperheads were cold, not adding any more runs despite multiple walks and a hit-by-pitch.
