Malik Lansdown, hailing from Falls Church, VA now joins the Temple Owls bringing much strength and depth to our blue line.

Malik has spent much of his hockey career in Maryland with the EHL Team Maryland club as well as his high school Gonzaga College High. The time spent at Gonzaga gave Malik plenty of playing time and two state championships in 2017 & 2018. Team Maryland has also given Malik some post-season experience this past season in the EHL.

Malik wants to be able to slow anyone who he has to face, stating his preference is pure 1 on 1 hockey with a line's top scorer. His stats reflect a good defensive ability with a positive plus/minus stat (more goals scored when on the ice than allowed) in his time at Team Maryland. High school hockey Malik helped lead Gonzaga to one of the top defenses in the state.

Head Coach Pat Carroll excited about the new commit and his abilities on the ice saying, "Adding Malik to our roster will help our depth on the blue line this season. Having another left-handed defenseman will give us more flexibility on special teams and with our even-strength pairings. I am very familiar with his former coach at Team MD (EHL) and how he runs his program and think he will adapt to our style of play very easily. His size and shot are going to be big weapons for us and I am excited to see him play against the strongest players in our league."

The blue-line and defenseman pairings and rotations will be one of the key things for the Owls early this season with many new faces on the team and many holes to till from the last time out in March 2020. Malik, however, with his flexibility and calm quiet nature should be able to find a spot on the rotation with ease and fit into his line well. Plus/minus and penalty minutes stats say he'll keep the game even while also not giving up any power play opportunities.
