2017 Pennant Winners: SMU and McGill

PATH TO NATIONALS TAKING SHAPE

With the 2017 CCBA regular season all but over the McGill Redmen have clinched the Northern Conference with a perfect 16-0 record while the Saint Mary's Huskies finished first in the Atlantic with a 10-6 record.

The semi-finals are scheduled to start this weekend with all but one match-up confirmed.  The St.FX X-men (3-11) are playing two make-up games against CCBA affiliate Holland College that can impact the standings.  If St. FX wins both games they will host Acadia (5-11) in a dramatic one-game play-in to determine the final playoff spot in the Atlantic.

The first round match-ups will be as follows:

NORTHERN

October 7 double-headers
(4) Ottawa at (1) McGill 
(3) Concordia at (2) Carleton 

October 8 game 3 (if needed)
(1) McGill at (4) Ottawa
(2) Carleton at (3) Concordia

ATLANTIC

October 7
(4) St.FX or Acadia at (1) SMU 
(3) UNB at (2) Dalhousie 

October 8 game 3 (if needed)
(1) SMU at (4) St.FX or Acadia
(2) Dalhousie at (3) UNB

In the next round, the semi-final winners play for the conference championship while the losing teams get a last chance to win a wildcard spot in the National Championships in Fredericton.
