Blow-outs dominate Day 2

While a couple of close games highlighted Thursday's action, three lop-side scores dominated Friday's scoreboard at the 2018 Canadian University World Series.

Both Carleton and Concordia played two games.  Concordia dropped their first game against the defending champions McGill Redmen 13-6 while Carleton topped Acadia 6-3 in their first outing.  However, when the two teams met later in the day it was Concordia behind a great pitching performance by Tyler Havlena, who up until that game had only thrown in an inning of work, that dominated the affair.  Havlena pitched a complete game one-hitter while Carleton's bat's looked weak. Concordia went on to win 9-1 and is establishing themselves in the tournament as a real contender after only squeaking in as a wild card.

In other action the University of New Brunswick beat the Saint Mary's Huskies 16-2 in 5 innings behind a 4 for 4 night by Ian Horn who knocked in 5 runs.  Thomas and Savoie combined for the victory for UNB.

After two days of action the standings are beginning to take shape.  On Saturday McGill (2-0) meets Acadia (0-2) and UNB (1-1) plays Saint Mary's (0-2).
