Game 1
In game one of the Monday double header, the White River Cobras looked to continue their winning ways as the they came into today as a three-game win streak. With the streak on the line, the Cobras started Brett Wilbanks and the Crush countered with their number one arm, Drury’s Tom Tewes. Wilbanks struggled early allowing 2 runs in the first off three hits by the Crush with the big blow coming off the bat of Iowa Western Community College’s Ross Indlecoffer with a run scoring triple. The Crush scored their third and final run off Wilibanks on a double by Oklahoma Baptist University’s Caleb Stull. Wilibanks final line was 4 innings pitched, 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Tyler Groves and Southwest Baptist University’s Quinn Appletoft finished off the final two innings allowing only two hits with 1 strikeout and 1 walk.
Tom Tewes was on fire as he held the hot Cobra bats to 4 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts in his 5.2 innings pitched. Tewes gave up his first hit midway through his fourth inning of work and was relieved by Southwest Baptist University’s Cory Dudley. Dudley recorded his first save of the year as he gave up 1 hit and 1 walk in his inning and a third.
The Cobras had five players with one hit a piece with Missouri State’s Jordan Fitzpatrick scoring the only run driven in by Robbie Merced. The Crush had 9 hits in the game led by Missouri Southern’s Logan Rycraft (2-3, 1 run) and Caleb Stull (2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI).

Game 2
What a back and forth game we had at US Ballpark for the second game of the double header as the Crush win in walk off fashion 11-10, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win a thrilling game away from the Cobras!
For the second game, the Cobras started Western Illinois right handed arm, Justin Foy. Foy held the Crush scoreless in the first but allowed them back in the game by giving up 5 runs in the second and 2 runs in the third. Foy allowed 7 earned runs total in 3 innings on the night allowing seven hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Missouri State’s Jake Lochner relieved Foy and threw 3 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit, 2 walks, and 1 strike out. The hard luck loser was Quinn Appletoft as he made his second appearance on the night allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits while walking one without recording an out.
The Queen City Crush started Truman State’s Mason Hatch who was looking to improve on his 1-2 record as he started for the fourth time this summer. Unfortunately, the Cobras made sure that didn’t happen as they scored 8 runs off Hatch in his 1.2 innings. Hatch only allowed 3 hits in the game, but allowed 8 runs, 3 earned, walking six and striking out 2. Tyler James then relieved Hatch throwing 4.1 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. James kept the Crush close throughout those 4 innings who was then relieved by Tanner Kellerstrass. Kellerstrass finished out the game allowing 0 runs on 0 hits and recorded his first win on the year.
Throughout this back and for affair, runs where a plenty as both teams made the pitchers work with 15 total walks between both teams. With 10 walks, the Cobras hitters scored their 10 runs on five hits from five different players. Jordan Fitzpatrick (1-3, 1 3B, 2RBI’s) and Eli Wells (1-3, 2 RBI’s) led the charge offensively for the Cobras. The Queen City Crush had 12 hits on the night led by five players with 2 hits apiece with the game winner coming off the bat of Hesston College’s Josh Stivers who was 2-4 on the night with two runs and two rbi’s, including the game winner!
