Stars beat Crush with help of US9 Military

Monday night baseball at US Ballpark had a great game on the schedule as the first place Stars battled the home team and in second place, the Queen City Crush. This game lived up o the hype as the Crush threw their number one arm, Tom Tewes whos record sat at 3-1 with a 2.43 era. The Stars matched Tewes with their guy, Beaux Bonvillian. Beaux is 2-1 on the summer with a 4.70 era but led the league in strikeouts with 30. This game was special with the additions of the US9 Military personnel both being around the teams as well as giving each team three military players to help.

The game was a back and forth affair as the Crush held a 3-2 lead going into the top of the sixth inning. In the sixth, the Stars were able to tie up the game as Major Eric Santana reached on an error by the Crush first baseman scoring Andrew Morrow after he singled and stole second base.

In the seventh, the Stars scored the winning run as Jamie Mitchell would triple and score as Collin Fraley hit a sacrifice fly to right.

Josiah Lovin got the loss as he relieved Tewes and gave up one earned on two hits, two walks, and one strike out.

Bonvillian threw the first three innings giving up two earned runs on six hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. Jarret Dotson relieved Bonvillian allowing no runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Jacob Pryor got the win throwing the seventh striking out one and Alden Blest threw the last two innings striking out three.

The Stars moved to 15-4-1 on the year and the Crush fell to 10-10. Both teams will face each other pryor to the All-Star game on Wednesday at 1:20pm.
