Merchants drop game 2 of GFI to Burnaby Bulldogs
Date: Jun 22, 2017
Blaze Hastings (Seminole State) pitched well for the Alameda Merchants in game two vs the Palm Springs Power, but the Alameda bats went cold in a 7-1 loss to the Power.
Hastings pitched a solid 5 2/3 innings for the Merchants - scattering 7 hits and striking out three against the defending Southern California Collegiate League champs. Going into the 6th inning, the score was tied 1-1. He was relieved by Conner McLauglin (Indiana Tech) - but he could not hold the Power down and they ended up scoring two runs in the 6th to take a 3-1 lead. McLaughlin took the loss for the Merchants.
The only run production for Alameda came in the 6th inning. With two outs, Ty Koehring (Indiana Tech) singled and was driven in by a JP Soriano double off the right center field wall.
The Merchants will return home after their Southern California road trip to play ANOTHER split squad against the Rally Factory Rockhounds and Healdsburg Prune Packers.
The grind in REAL!!! #summerball #TRAVELball #splitsquads
