Apple Sox shut out Merchants

Date:  Source: Alameda Merchants

After one of their games was rained out, the Merchants and the Apple Sox played the 2nd game of a weekend series in Wenatchee.

Alameda's starter Alex Martinez got off to a good start with a 1-2-3 first inning against the Apple Sox & prospects looked good for them to steal the 2nd game of the series. But a walk and 4 singles later, the Apple Sox had a 3-0 lead that they never relinquished. They proceeded to score 2 in the 3rd and one more in the 4th to take a 6-0 lead.

The closest that the Merchants got to scoring was when Drew Mount tripled in the top of the 6th with one out. Alameda failed to push him across and the score remained 6-0.

Nate Peterson (Judson University) and Gunner David (Holy Names Univeristy) both pitched well in relief - only surrendering a combined 2 earned runs while striking out five.

The Merchants return home to California for a game against the West Coast Kings at College Park HS on June 21st.
