Penn-Trafford holds on for 4-3 win against Hempfield

Penn-Trafford survived a determined comeback attempt by Hempfield on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Jesse Cox put Penn-Trafford up 4-1 in the second period, but Hempfield pulled to within one on Christian Gorscak's tally 4:53 into the third period.

Penn-Trafford forced Hempfield goalie Chris Negich to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Penn-Trafford was led by Tyler Hufnagel, who grabbed two goals. Hufnagel scored the first of his two goals at 16:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penn-Trafford. Hufnagel's next tally made the score 2-1 Penn-Trafford with 17:32 left in the second period. David Callihan assisted on the tally. Thomas Byrne also scored for Penn-Trafford. More assists for Penn-Trafford came via Nathan Mickey, who had two.

Hempfield put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Penn-Trafford to score on any of its three power plays. Penn-Trafford was unable to stop Hempfield from sending pucks towards the net, and Hempfield eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Hempfield also got a goal from Andrew Koziara as well. In addition, Hempfield received assists from Matthew Bartus and Connor Monzo, who contributed one each.

Alec Pevornik made 31 saves for Penn-Trafford on 34 shots. Penn-Trafford incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Negich recorded 34 saves for Hempfield. Hempfield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
