Jonathan Rice netted a hat trick to lead Fox Chapel over Penn-Trafford, 5-1.

Rice got on the scoresheet 10:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:05 into the second and at 14:38 into the second.

Penn-Trafford was stymied by Fox Chapel's netminder Chad Veltri, who stopped 40 shots during the victory. Veltri certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.76 entering the contest.

Fox Chapel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Penn-Trafford to score on any of its six power plays. Fox Chapel got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Fox Chapel also got a goal from Shane Krhovsky as well. In addition, Fox Chapel received assists from Jasper Uricchio, who had two and Ben Friedland, Paul Cullen, and Michael Hudic, who contributed one each.

Penn-Trafford was held below its usual level of production. Penn-Trafford puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Penn-Trafford forced Fox Chapel goalie Veltri to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Penn-Trafford was led by Matthew Simkovic, who scored the team's only goal. Simkovic scored short handed 16:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fox Chapel. Penn-Trafford was on a disadvantage when Ashton Adamek went off the ice for tripping.

Fox Chapel incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Penn-Trafford's Alec Pevornik stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Penn-Trafford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
