Chamberland nets hat trick, leads Pembroke to 8-3 win over Carleton Place

A hat trick by Felix Chamberland was the highlight in Lumber Kings' 8-3 win against the Carleton Place Canadians.

Chamberland's first goal came 6:26 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:42 into the second and at 17:34 into the second.

The win gave the Pembroke Lumber Kings a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Pembroke also got points from Dylan Staples, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Mark Petaccio, who also tallied one goal and three assists. Lucas Gonu also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Colin Kruse, Chris Minns, Patrice Wren, Kyle Shaw, and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one each and Sam Gleason and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in two.

Carleton Place was led by Owen Stewart, who finished with one goal. Stewart scored on the power play 6:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. The Canadians had gained a power play chance when Shaw was whistled for holding. Stephen Baylis assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Elias Ghantous and Andy Sturtz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Larry Smith, Craig Pefley, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one each.

Darren Smith made 24 saves for Pembroke on 27 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Carleton Place took out Justin Laforest after he had made seven saves and installed Guillaume Therien in goal, where he finished with 13 saves and the loss. The Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
