The Southern Oregon Spartans are excited to announce their affiliation with the Niagara Red Cats of the National College Prospects Hockey League (NCPHL). The NCPHL is an eight team, Tier 3 league that encompasses the upper Northeast United States and Southern Ontario, Canada will commence their inaugural season in September 2016.
Niagara Red Cats players as Spartan prospects will attend Spartan Main Camp in August and compete for a Spartan roster spot, making for an ultra-competitive camp.
Dave Cole GM and Head Coach Southern Oregon Spartans. “This affiliation is an exciting opportunity for two great hockey organizations and leagues to take advantage of key figures that have worked together for years and are knowing exactly what its required for players to get to the next level. The true purpose of this affiliation is player development and this will help players get better every day in junior hockey with the goal of being a college prospect.”
Red Cats General Manager and Head Coach Steve Thomson feels that this is a natural progression to the work that he and Cole have engaged upon over the past several years. Thomson explained: “Coach Cole and I share a passion for two things, great hockey and helping players reach their dreams, be that Juniors, college or the pros. The affiliation between the Niagara Red Cats and the Southern Oregon Spartans is the perfect path to make both happen. Players will have the opportunity to move between our organizations, taking advantage of exceptional development while maximizing ice time.”
Scouts for the Southern Oregon Spartans and the Niagara Red Cats have been and continue to recruit across North America and Europe, evaluating hockey talent for the upcoming season. As a result of their combined approach, Spartan camp in August and Red Cat camp in September are sure to be highly competitive.
