Stags Hockey is Heading Back to Nationals!
Date: Feb 27, 2019

It's finally here- the Stags are off to Michigan! They're heading out with a record of 17-1-8 (wtl). Most recently, the boys beat the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Neumann College at the Regional tournament in Pennsylvania. They also found themselves a part of the Empire Conference Playoffs. In the semi-finals, the Stags took on Southern Connecticut State and won 2-1 in the second OT thanks to a goal by #9 Pat Lawler. After the semi-finals, the Stags took on Farmingdale State for the Empire Championship title for the fourth year in a row. There was some back and forth play, including two goals within a minute of each other toward the end of the third period, but the Stags couldn't pull it off. They lost to Farmingdale 7-5.
With the regular season behind them, the Stags are ready to take on the National Tournament. The Stags have been placed in Pool D with Colorado State University, University of Tampa, and Aquinas College. The first game will be taking place Tuesday March 8th at 1:15pm vs. CSU who's current record is 24-7 (w-l). The second game will be against the University of Tampa on Wednesday March 9th at 10:15am. UTampa is currently 25-1-6 (wtl). The third and final set game is Thursday March 10th at 1pm vs. Aquinas College who is also 25-1-6 (wtl). If the Stags win their pool, they will advance to the semi-final game on Friday at 8pm vs. the pool A winner, and with another win, could advance to the Championship game Saturday at 7pm.
