Two OHA Graduates Selected in 2013 NHL Entry Draft
Date: Aug 12, 2013
CAMBRIDGE, ON – Former Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) President Brent Ladds, was announced the new Commissioner of Allan Cup Hockey (ACH) for this upcoming 2013-14 season.
At a league meeting held in Cambridge, where the announcement was first made public, outgoing League Chairman Don Robertson ensured the rest of the league’s six teams that this was a positive move for the future direction of the League.
“Having Brent (Ladds) lead our league as the new Commissioner this season is the right move to make,” said Robertson. “This is a time when our league is going through an expansion process and with the 2014 Allan Cup Championship being in Dundas; Brent’s 36 years in the game will be a real asset to this League.”
The move to appoint Ladds as the new Commissioner for ACH was fully endorsed by the OHA Board of Directors. OHA CEO Scott Farley sees the appointment of Ladds as a key factor in the growth of the league.
“For players looking to play the game after their junior career is over, ACH is an excellent option,” said Farley. “The OHA Board fully supports the appointment of Brent Ladds as the new Commissioner, from our perspective he is a welcomed addition to ACH.”
Ladds looks forward to working with the member teams in the ACH and made a point of letting the teams know that he would work hard to help their overall goal of expanding the League and recruiting graduating junior players while maintaining a positive league profile.
“My primary focus will be to strengthen our recruitment of OHA overage junior players into the ACH,” said Ladds. “We need to showcase the league to a national audience this year with the Allan Cup Championship coming to Dundas, it’s the longest running National Championship and we’re proud to be a part of it this season.”
Further details announcing ACH and Allan Cup Championship schedules for this season will be released in upcoming months.
