The two players drafted was tied for second, with the AJHL, among the CJHL's 13 total picks, behind only the BCHL (7).
Matt Buckles would be the second CJHL player selected, behind CJHL Top Prospect Adam Tambellini of the BCHL Surrey Eagles, picked by the Florida Panthers in the 4th round, 98th overall. The power forward who started his OJHL career with the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, was traded last off-season to the Buzzers and would help march the club to an OJHL title, leading the club in scoring during the regular season. On NHL Central Scouting's radar all-season, Buckles was named an OJHL 1st Team All-Prospect and the Top Prospect Award winner, while competing as a member of Team Canada East at the 2012 World Junior 'A' Challenge in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, as well as with the OJHL South Division All-Stars at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge held in Wellington, Ontario.
The final CJHL player selected in 2013 was Troy Josephs of the Buzzers, picked by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 7th round, 209th overall. The hard nosed Whitby, Ontario native joined the Buzzers in 2011-12 and would see his draft stock rise dramatically throughout the 2012-13 season, helping St. Mike's capture the OJHL Championship along the way. A member of Team Canada East at the 2012 World Junior 'A' Challenge, Josephs would finish as runner-up in voting for the OJHL Top Prospect Award to teammate Matt Buckles.
Also selected in the 2013 NHL Draft were nine products of the OJHL including:
Congratulations to both Matt and Troy and best of luck as they look to make the jump to the next level!
