OHA COACHES AND TRAINERS CLINIC DAY #2

JULY 27 - The 2013 OHA Coaches Development 1 Clinic and Trainers Level 3 Clinic begin day number two of thier weekend and Wilfrid Laurier University today.

The Coaches Clinic will hear presentations this morning from Greg Ireland of the Owen Sound Attack, James Boyd from the Mississauga Steelheads and the Kitchener Rangers Assistant Coach, Mike McKenzie. In the afternoon the group will hear from Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant Coach Chris Dennis, Toronto Marlies Head Coach Steve Spott and New Jersey Devils Head Coach Peter DeBoer.

After a late night that had participants in the Trainers Clinic working on their taping skills until 11pm, the group gets underway this morning with a discussion surrounding Ankle Injuries. The group will take on topics today such as:

  • Team Nutrition
  • Shoulder and Knee Injuries
  • The Importance of Sleep and Rest for Athletes
  • Ice vs. Heat - Therapy for Injury Management
  • Severe Laceration and Internal Bleeding
  • Neck and Spinal Injury
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Review, Discussion and Mockups

The Trainers will finish their Clinic this evening around 6pm.
