Gutenberg Joins River Bandits Scouting Staff

The Midwest Junior Hockey League, a proud member of the Amateur Athletic Union, announced today its players of the week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 24.
The players of the week are voted on by league staff, coaches and general managers.
Player of the Week – Bryce Stenstrom, Holland River Bandits
Stenstrom recorded 12 points last weekend as Holland swept the Michigan Grrrowl on home ice and has now tallied 21 points over his last five games.
The 19-year-old from Hampshire, Ill., posted a goal and three assists on Saturday and then broke out with five goals and three assists to figure in on eight of Holland’s nine goals on Sunday.
The MWJHL’s scoring leader with 43 goals and 50 assists for 93 points, Stenstrom is now a three-time winner of Player of the Week honors, having also been named on Feb. 12 and co-winner on Dec. 11.

Defenseman of the Week – Cory Bussing, Holland River Bandits
One of the youngest players in the MWJHL, the 16-year-old native of Muskegon, Mich., had two multi-point games for the River Bandits in their two-game sweep over the Grrrowl last weekend.
Saturday night, Bussing went for a goal and two assists and then on Sunday, chipped in a goal and an assist.
Overall, Bussing has 11 goals and 24 points in 40 games for Holland, good for eighth in league defensemen scoring.

Goaltender of the Week – John Posler, Soo Firehawks
Posler, acquired from Holland just prior to the MWJHL trade deadline earlier this month, won his first start for the Firehawks with a 47-save performance Saturday night against the Rhinelander Street Cats.
The 18-year-old from Traverse City, Mich., began the season with the Grrrowl before going to the River Bandits, where he was Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 21.
With all three teams, Posler is 6-9-0 with a 4.88 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.
