Gutenberg Joins River Bandits Scouting Staff

The Holland River Bandits took the next step in changing their organization. The newest change is the addition of Cynthia King as a fitness consultant for the team. Some people would say, “big deal, yes, it is, Cynthia works with NHL players, and now she will be helping the River Bandits, as far as we’re concerned we are lucky to have her on board,” said a River Bandits owner.
Junior players today follow their idols at the Pro level, in preparation for their hockey seasons. The trend in fitness has taken on new meaning with athletes in all sports. Hockey is arguably the most demanding on your body out of the major sports. Players come to camps in shape and ready to go, there is no room to show up out of shape and expect to make a team anymore. The concern for the River Bandits was to get a person who really knew what they were talking about, not just someone who took an on-line fitness test and shows up at a gym 5 days a week. The River Bandits want to provide their players with the most up to date information and training advice. “Due to the age of these players it is critical that their training and nutrition, fits their own physical size and body type, along with what they are trying to accomplish, in becoming better hockey players, and to be honest we had to go find the person we think can provide that, said a River Bandits owner.” The players will be able to get the answers to fitness and nutrition questions from a person that truly knows, they can also get training programs to fit their individual styles and needs. Some players need strength, some need quickness, some need to diet, some need to gain weight, Cynthia can help them all. “We want to give our players every advantage that we possibly can to help them in pursuit of their dreams, we also know injuries hurt not just the player, but too many injuries can deplete a roster, so the idea is to help ourselves by helping the players” said assistant Coach Cam Hill.
The answer came by way of Dennis Chighisola scout and special consultant for the River Bandits. “Dennis has so many connections in hockey, from the beginner levels, to his connections in the NHL, Coach Chic suggested Cynthia and the conversations started.”
The River Bandits are absolutely thrilled to begin this relationship with Cynthia and we are looking forward to our players being able to utilize her knowledge and skills in her areas of expertise, we hope this will be great for everyone involved.

I left in April of 2012 as I was offered a PT management position.
