Gutenberg Joins River Bandits Scouting Staff

Friday:
All 10 teams were in action Friday and all five games in the Midwest Junior Hockey League yielded tremendous action.
Friday afternoon in Bloomington, Ill., Kyle Schmor scored his second goal of the game at 19:57 of the third period to tie the game and the Jr. Blaze went on to defeat the Michigan Ice Dogs 5-4 in a thrilling seven-round shootout.
Joseph Clemente and Tyler Gehrken also scored for Bloomington, while Alex Stewart recorded a hat trick for the Ice Dogs.
Will Rohleder made 26 stops for the Jr. Blaze's fifth straight win and Andrew Freeman kicked out 28 at the other end.

Nick Murphy had a monster game with four goals and an assist in the Soo Firehawks' 5-1 win over the Rhinelander Street Cats in Rhinelander, Wis.
Ryan Marshall added a goal and two assists and Brandt Miller chipped in three assists for the Firehawks.

In Hartland, Mich., P.J. Krystyniak scored his second hat trick in as many games as the Hounds moved to 13-0-0 with a 10-0 win over the Dayton Aeros.
Hartland captain Jake Henrikson tacked on two goals and two assists, Thomas Kerr scored twice and Matt Passino scored with two helpers to back Colin Longeway's 17-save shutout.

Six different players scored in Tennyson Chevrolet's 6-3 win in Toledo over the NWO Grrrowl.
Ken Winter, Jacob Bates, Zach Wiacek, Robert Danyo, Matt Hopersberger and James Smith all tallied for Tennyson.
Ben Henry popped two goals for the Grrrowl, while Jason Henry had three assists.

In Fraser, Mich., Harry Braafhart registered a hat trick of his own along with two assists to lead the Holland River Bandits over the Great Lakes Lightning by an 8-5 count.
Cam Fisher (two goals, assist) and Abram Prince (three assists) added three-point games and Alex Devries contributed a pair of goals.
Aaron Henderson had a goal and two assists for Great Lakes, while Alex Krebs notched a goal and a helper.
Saturday:
Three games were on the Midwest Junior Hockey League docket Saturday night and all three had their share of excitement and drama.
In Fraser, Mich., five different players scored as the Holland River Bandits completed a two-game sweep of the Great Lakes Lightning with a 5-3 win.
Riley Clark, Alex Devries, Bryce Stenstrom and Tyler Teglia had a goal and an assist apiece, while Harry Braafhart also scored, Abram Prince tacked on two assists and Jeromy Semtnerand Trevor Teglia combined for 33 saves.
For the Lightning, Jack Grebe scored a pair and Miles Knight had a goal and an assist. Zach Boes finished with 31 stops in goal.

The Hartland Hounds ran their undefeated streak to 14-0-0-0 with a 3-1 win over the NWO Grrrowl as Jordan Ruterbusch and Hounds' captain Jake Henrikson broke a 1-1 tie in the third period.
Ethan Doyle also scored for Hartland and Andrew Brownlee finished with 19 saves.
Garrett Avery stopped 39 shots for NWO and Ben Henry tallied the lone goal.

Rhinelander took a 4-1 lead into the third period, but the Soo Firehawks scored three late goals in less than three minutes to force overtime and then the shootout, but the hometown Street Cats won the shootout and the game by a 5-4 count.
Dylan Farmer scored a pair for Rhinelander, while Devin Vanderwyk had a goal and an assist and Todd Houtari chipped in two assists to back Spencer Brasswell's 25-save performance. Brasswell stopped four of the five Soo shooters in the shootout as well.
Nick Murphy scored three more goals after potting four Friday night to lead the Firehawks. Alex Drulia netted the other, Brandt Miller registered two assists and Brandon Hansen and Brennan Wachter combined for 40 saves.
Sunday:
The Midwest Junior Hockey League wrapped up its weekend slate with three games Sunday, but in looking at the score of one game, it appeared the MWJHL was keeping score NFL-style Sunday afternoon.
In a game that fittingly ended in a shootout, the Rhinelander Street Cats defeated the Soo Firehawks 14-13 in Rhinelander, Wis., to take two of three from the Firehawks in their three-game weekend series.
The breakdown: Soo led 4-1 after one period, then the Street Cats scored nine in the second to lead 10-7 after 40 minutes, followed by the Soo putting six on the board in the third.
Eric Blankenship's goal at 19:30 of the third period knotted the game at 13-all for Rhinelander and then Mark Lingofelt stopped all four Soo shooters in the shootout to end the game at the Rhinelander Ice Arena.
Devin Vanderwyk scored four goals with three assists for Rhinelander, Rustam Kuts added three goals and two assists, while Blankenship and Blake Rowe each had two goals and an assist.
For the Firehawks, Nick Murphy tallied a hat trick plus five assists, giving him 10 goals and 16 points over the weekend, Alex Drulia tacked on two goals and two assists, Kevin Killips two goals and a helper and Nate Fitzpatrick a goal and three assists.

In Bloomington, Ill., at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, goalie Colton Lewicki made his season debut and stopped 17 of 18 shots in the Michigan Ice Dogs' 2-1 win over the Bloomington Jr. Blaze.
Josh Arnold scored both goals for the Ice Dogs and Alex Stewart assisted on both.
Jacob Lourash tallied the lone goal for Bloomington and Bobby Cook finished with 31 saves.

At the Tennyson Arena in Brownstown, Mich., Ryan Brown registered three goals and two assists and James Smith posted a hat trick of his own to lift Tennyson Chevrolet to an 11-3 victory over the Dayton Aeros.
Jon Hultgren added two goals and an assist, while captain Zach Chapman scored once with three assists and Zach Wiacek had a goal and two helpers. Kyle McKibbin chipped in two assists and Keaton Lang recorded a goal and an assist.
For the Aeros, Ryan Santo had a goal and an assist and Cody Staub added two assists.
