Goal Scoring keeps Dolphins at the Top
Date: Oct 22, 2024
Despite only skating away with three of a possible six points on Opening Weekend the Junior Dolphins saw scoring from multiple sources with almost every player registering at least one point.
With an initial 6-5 loss to Stoney creek, followed by an 8-0 win over Oakville there were plenty of points available to Dolphins players with 14 of 16 skaters registering at least one over the two games. Led by second year Dolphin Adrianna Milani’s combined two goals and three assist, goal scoring came from nine different players.
From a goaltending perspective University of Vermont Commit Lily Pendergast logged her first shutout of the season starting in the game against Oakville.
“While it would have been great to get all six points,” said Joe Butkevich “you really can’t complain when you see offence coming from that many players. That, along with the play of our goaltenders made for a successful weekend.”
“This is a team that will only continue to grow as the season progresses” added Butkevich. “As players adjust to the league and new teammates things should only get better for everyone.”
The Dolphins now have a break in their regular season schedule as they head to the Annual Stoney Creek Showcase. They start Showcase play on Friday morning with a 9:00am contest against EDGE School, before meeting Florida Alliance later in the day. Saturday play sees them taking on the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers at 8:30am and Lovell Academy at 2:45.pm. Full Showcase details can be found here.
