Okanagan College wins CCWS over Thompson Rivers University

The Final of the Canadian College World Series would be one to remember between the University of Fraser Valley Cascades and the Okanagan College Coyotes. The game would have a bit of everything. It started out as a pitchers’ duel and the Cascades Kai Fyke and Coyotes Teagan Ribbink would both put up zero’s through the first 3 innings. In the top of the 4th, the Coyotes broke through scoring 3 times. In the bottom of the 5th inning the Cascades would finally get to Ribbink and would put up 3 runs of their own to tie the game. In the top of the 7th the Coyotes would scratch across a run, but the Cascades would again respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. The top of the 8th inning the Coyotes would score 5 times to take 9-5 lead, but the cascades would scratch 1 run across in the bottom of the inning to make the deficit only 3 runs. Down to their last 3 outs, the Cascades would rally for tie the game at 9-9. Both teams would get solid pitching and defense into the extra innings of the Championship game. In the bottom of the 13th inning, with two outs, Tyson Christie made it to first on an error, followed by Brady Rennenberg, who doubled down the left field line, allowing Christie to score all the way from first base and giving the Cascades the 2024 CCWS Championship.
