Next up for the preseason articles are the TRU Wolfpack. They look to improve off of their best season in recent years finishing third in the standings going 17-13. Although they went 1-2 in championships last year, their first game of the tournament started off with a bang with a walk-off home run from Simon Crossfield (Vancouver, BC).
The Wolfpack have a few key returners that look to produce for them, including SS Carter Spencer (Delta, BC). Carter last year tallied 28 hits in 29 games and scored 27 runs at the top of the order for the Pack last year.
Another returning bat is P/OF Jared Sucro (Kamloops, BC). Sucro last year had a slash line of .306/.403/.822 on top of recording a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings off the bump.
Lastly is 3B Manny Birch (Surrey, BC). Manny recorded 28 hits in 30 games last year while putting up a .339 on base.
A few other key names are OF Manny Recchi (Kamloops, BC) and OF Riley Hay (Kelowna, BC), who both look to improve from last season.
The pitching staff for the Wolfpack this year will be headed by Zac Robinson (Ladysmith, BC). Zac put up a 1.69 ERA last year in 47.2 innings and picked up 4 wins.
Alongside Zac will be Jacob Fillian (Prince George, BC). Jacob threw 35 innings last season and picked up 2 wins for the Wolfpack.
Two other key arms for TRU this season will be Donovan Collier (Winnipeg, MB) who recorded a 3.78 ERA in 35.2 innings last year, along with Keith Manby (White Rock, BC) who put up a 1.76 ERA in 15.1 innings last season.
The Wolfpack welcome newcomer Liam Rihela to their coaching staff. Rihela was a standout infielder for the Wolfpack with his last season being in 2019 when he led the Wolfpack to a 21-7 record.
They ventured down to Arizona recently going 6-4 and recorded double digit hits in 8 of 10 games.
“If we take care of the baseball and everyone stays healthy we should have a good championship season,” said head coach Ray Chadwick.
