Sunflower League teams represent at NBC World Series

Newton, Kan. -- The Hutchinson Monarchs turned a late two-run deficit into a run-rule win last night (July 18) over the Newton Sluggin' Rebels at Centennial Park.
Down 3-1 heading into the seventh, the Monarchs caught fire and exploded for a 15-run barrage to win 16-3.
Keying the surge was Joey Baran, who homered in the Monarchs' decisive inning and drove in four runs overall.
Lane Brewster also had four RBIs for the Monarchs, with Hunter Autrey and Will Stark driving in two runs each.
Clark Henry paced the Sluggin' Rebels with three hits and an RBI.
Clay Wesbrooks pitched 2.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen and struck out three for the Monarchs.
Dalton Patten turned in a solid start for Newton, pitching four hitless innings and giving up just one unearned tally along with four strikeouts for the Sluggin' Rebels.
Tonight (July 19), Newton (23-14) will be at Hutchinson (27-7) with a 7 pm first pitch at Hobart-Detter Field.
