WICHITA, Kan. -- The Haysville Aviators came alive with big fourth and fifth innings for a 16-4 romp of the San Diego (Calif.) Stars in action at the NBC World Series last night (Aug. 2) at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.

Trailing 4-1, an RBI single by Max Valdez and a two-run homer from Cade Baker in the third inning pulled the Aviators even.

But the best was yet to come, as the Aviators caught fire and scored six runs in both the fourth and fifth frames to pull away for the run-rule victory.

Five of the six runs scored in the fourth came with two outs, as a two-run double by Jayden Hill served as the big blow in the inning.

Hill then singled home two more runs in the fifth and Trent Mallonee finished the inning with a two-run single of his own.

Tommy Davis also had a pair of RBIs in the big win for the Aviators.

Colby Wilson pitched all five innings and gave up three earned runs with four strikeouts to pick up the win.

With the victory, the Aviators stay alive in the NBC World Series and will next square off with the undefeated Liberal (Kan.) BeeJays tomorrow (Aug. 4) at noon at Eck Stadium.
