Cheney, Kan. -- The Cheney Diamond Dogs plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th for a walk-off, 4-3 win over the Haysville Aviators last night (July 17) at the Cheney Sports Complex in Cheney, Kan.

Jaxson Holder came home with the winning run after drawing a walk to lead off the 11th frame and eventually scoring on a wild pitch and then a passed ball.

The Aviators had managed to jump ahead early when RBI singles by Alex Jarboe and Max Valdez made it 3-1 in the third inning.

An RBI single by George Specht in the bottom of the inning closed the deficit to one run and the Diamond Dogs later pulled even with a run in the bottom of the ninth.

Specht and Gavin Rogers each had two hits to lead the Diamond Dogs, with Jarboe going 3-of-4 to pace the Aviators.

Andrew Wisner was brilliant in relief for Cheney, pitching three shutout innings and fanning eight of the nine batters retired on just one hit to earn the victory.

Wisner relieved starter Tyler Schott, who was effective in his eight innings on the hill. Schott gave up two earned runs and struck out five for the Diamond Dogs.

Tanner Leslie was also solid for Haysville, lasting six innings and surrendering just one earned run.

Tonight (July 18), Haysville (20-14) will host Cheney (32-6) starting at 7 pm at Plagens-Carpenter Park.
