Ontario Rolls Ottawa Back to Stage 2, HEO ‘AAA’ Hockey League to Cancel Controlled Developmental Scrimmages

The City of Ottawa will move to a modified Stage 2 for a minimum of 28 days, effective Saturday, Oct. 10 at 12:01am, Premier Doug Ford and the Province of Ontario announced today.

As a result, our associations within the City of Ottawa will no longer to be hosting Controlled Developmental Scrimmages for at least 28 days.

In response to these latest regulations, the HEO 'AAA' Hockey League is cancelling all scheduled Controlled Developmental Scrimmages hosted by our member associations until further notice. Associations are still allowed to congregate on ice for drill-based sessions within their rosters, but no scrimmages or gameplay will be permitted.

The league will continue in this format until we receive more communication from HEO and our health unit partners.

HEO is currently seeking direction regarding teams that cross-over City of Ottawa Health Units boundaries to continue or Controlled Developmental Scrimmages in other health units. They will provide us an update on this when possible.

The HEO ‘AAA’ Hockey League fully supports these new health guidelines. The safety and health of our volunteers, players, and other stakeholders take precedent above all else in these unprecedented times.

Our member associations will cooperate with these new health measures to ensure we are able to move back into Stage 3 guidelines when it is safe to proceed. The league has the utmost confidence in the resolve and courage of our membership, and is here to facilitate the restart of hockey at the right time.
