District 3 Pulls Eastern Ontario Wild Out of HEO ‘AAA’ Hockey League Scrimmages

After discussions between District 3, Hockey Eastern Ontario, and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, without representation by the 'AAA' league, District 3 has advised the HEO 'AAA' Hockey League that the Eastern Ontario Wild must temporarily pause their participation in Controlled Developmental Scrimmages effective immediately.

This comes as unfortunate news to the league. We will continue to look at ways to overcome the obstacles placed in front of us by the aforementioned district, and hopefully allow the remaining associations in our area to play Controlled Developmental Scrimmages in a safe, controlled, and healthy environment for all.

Due to the decision made by District 3 and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, the league will speak with their five association Presidents to decide if this decision impacts all 225 of our families, and make a decision on the future of league play.

I would like to personally thank the Ottawa Junior 67’s and the Upper Canada Cyclones for reducing their roster sizes in order to provide options for the Eastern Ontario Wild to participate in our modified league.

I will continue to work with Hockey Eastern Ontario, 10 of our District Chairs, and our association volunteers. They have been working tirelessly over the past couple of months to ensure we do everything possible for the well-being and mental health of our young association members. Our shared goal remains getting all players back on the ice participating in Controlled Developmental Scrimmages.

With our previous and current scrimmages, we have been fortunate enough to have zero cases come from these sanctioned events. We will continue to do our part to mitigate the risk as much as possible. As stated previously, our number one priority is to ensure all children in the HEO ‘AAA’ Hockey League have the ability to play Controlled Developmental Scrimmages, in a safe and healthy environment for all.

Lucas Cacciotti,

President, HEO ‘AAA’ Hockey League
