Embry-Riddle Hockey 2022-2023 Schedule Released
Date: Jul 17, 2022
Sometimes nothing feels better than playing the spoiler, as the Eagles can attest to this weekend. After suffering a disappointing 2-1 loss to USF in the Daytona Ice Arena Friday night, despite excellent play from goalie Max Minervini and a tally from Ryan Marks, the Eagles went on the road to visit the Bulls at their home arena in Wesley Chapel, near Tampa. The Bulls hosted the Eagles in their home opener in front of a busy and energetic USF crowd, hoping to see their team come out on top again. But that was not how the night would go.
The Eagles came from behind with an excellent 3rd period to leave the West Coast with a 4-2 victory. Freshman Jack Bokun opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 2nd period, which paved the way for a three goal 3rd period on the backs of Kyle Usiak, Ryan Marks, and Noah Austin. Additionally, goaltender Nico Prulhiere provided excellent play between the pipes to backstop the team through the win. It is the first time in franchise history that the Eagles have beaten the Bulls, much like the previous weekend when the Eagles beat the Knights for the first time.
Something feels different this year about Daytona Beach’s only Collegiate Hockey Team. They have only started the season 2-2, but it’s the way these games have been played. The Eagles have skated with and controlled play against some of the best the ACHA South has to offer, even in the losses so far. Coach Joyce has established 4 offensive lines that push to punish their opponents with finesse and physical play. The defense has also pitched in their share of bone jarring hits, and done an excellent job breaking up prime scoring opportunities and giving our goalies time to breath between shots. All this combines for a fun and exciting atmosphere down at Volusia County’s only ice rink, and a reason to take the Eagles seriously this year.
Join the Eagles there this Friday, September 27th, as they host the Knights again for the final time this season. The puck drops at 6:30 and admission is $8 at the Daytona Ice Arena.
