1st Battle of the Beach Proves Success for the Eagles

It was a big week at Embry-Riddle, with the Career Expo occurring on Thursday the 11th followed by Homecoming Weekend filled with festivities and fun. The Eagles had just capped off a huge win against the FGCU Eagles, and were riding high into this first annual (hopefully) Battle of the Beach, showcasing your ERAU Eagles playing a round robin tournament against the Clemson Tigers, the University of Florida Gators, and the Florida State Seminoles. The tournament was a great success, with almost all of the games being decided by 1-2 goals, proving the teams to be closely matched.
It was a long weekend of some heavy hitting hockey, and your Eagles walked out with a 1-0-1-1 record (a 3-1 win against UF, 7-6 Overtime Loss to FSU, and a 3-3 tie with Clemson).  Despite the high pace and energy of the weekend, it was a bit frustrating for the team, believing that they left missed opportunities on the table. This was especially present in the loss to FSU, with Coach Joyce, after discussing some of the missed opportunities of the game, reminding the team to “Remember how great last weekend against FGCU felt compared to now.” He urged the team to use this lesson as motivation moving forward.
The Eagles are off this weekend for Fall Break but hit the road to Georgia next weekend to play Georgia Institute of Technology and Auburn University. Be sure to keep the Eagles in your thoughts!
