The Brockville Tikis are now 0-for-3 against the Arnprior Packers this season after losing to their Richardson Division rival 6-2 Wednesday at the Memorial Centre.

The game started slow with neither team finding the back of the net in the first period, despite the Packers generating 14 shots in the frame. The Tikis fired just three pucks towards Arnprior goalie Tom Meyerhans.

In the second period the goals came in bunches, starting with Packers Brad Richardson scoring two minutes in before Tikis Maxime Durocher tied the game two minutes later on a power play.

It was in the last 70 seconds of the middle frame where most of the period’s firepower came from.

The flurry started with Arnprior’s Bailey Hein scoring his 24th goal of the year with the assist coming from former Tiki Rocco Barresi.

Twenty-two seconds later it was Brockville’s Trevor Finch again tying the game before Packers Matthew Labrosse gave his team the lead for good 12 seconds after that.

In the third period the wheels came off for the Tikis and they only managed to get three shots on net in the frame again, while the Packers managed to get that many goals in the period alone.

The Tikis travel to Westport on Friday to take on the Rideaus before hitting the road again Saturday to matchup against the Athens Aeros.

The Aeros continued their rise Wednesday as they beat the Prescott Flyers 4-1 at the Leo Boivin Community Centre.

Athens Devin McCloy gave his team the lead six minutes into the game and from there the Aeros never looked back with Spencer Marshall scoring a power play goal in the second period and then Connor Burns and Eric Hulford added to the lead in the third.

Flyers Shawn Patterson also scored in the third period.

The win for Athens marks the seventh straight game where they’ve earned at least a point in the standings, losing just once in a shootout over that time.

Prescott will host the Clarence Beavers on Saturday.
