The Lake Norman Copperheads (7-13) and the Concord Weavers (7-12) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Lake Norman Copperheads that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-1 win at Hough High School.
The fact that the Lake Norman Copperheads grouped all of their runs into the second inning helped them take advantage of their hits.
Eric Whitecavage got the win for the Lake Norman Copperheads thanks to four strikeouts. Whitecavage allowed no earned runs on five hits and three walks over five innings.
David Dunlavey (1-1) took the loss for the Concord Weavers. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
