The Lake Norman Copperheads (5-9) built an early lead against the Piedmont Pride (11-3), scoring five runs in the first inning, en route to a 6-4 win on Saturday at Hough High School.
The Lake Norman Copperheads scored in the first on a two-run triple by Steven Oakley, an error, and a two-run single by Chris Wright.
Oakley racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Lake Norman Copperheads.
Kellen McCoy had an impressive outing against the Piedmont Pride's lineup. The Piedmont Pride managed just two hits off of the the Lake Norman Copperheads' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked four and struck out five during his seven innings of work.
Daniel Sweeney was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out three.
