The Saints quest for .500 will go on for another weekend as Central Wisconsin was swept by the league leading Chicago Bulldogs in three games at KB Willett Arena. Central Wisconsin got off to a poor start in Friday night's game and were unable to recover as they found themselves trailing for most of the series.
The Saints could barely get the puck over the center ice line before Chicago got on the board. Michael Delaney capitalized on some great pressure and the Saints were behind within 45 seconds. Less than a minute after that Adamson Thoma fended off two Saints backcheckers and pushed the puck and starting goaltender Jake Adams into the net for a highlight reel goal.
Central Wisconsin turned it on in the second period but were unable to bury any of their chances. They were not rewarded for their great play in the second period. Luke Morin scored his first of the game and Central Wisconsin headed to the locker room trailing 3-0.
The third period was much different than the previous two. Jeremy Ebert scored at the 12:03 mark with assists from Ian Dart and Mikey Tiberi and the Saints gained some confidence after finally beating Robert Kennedy. Just over a minute later the Saints struck again. This time Justin Ritchie flung the puck off the side wall and into the net. Brandon Hummel and Jay Shifra assisted and the Saints second tally.
A minute and a half later it was all but over. Luke Morin potted his second goal of the night and the Saints were unable to mount a desperate comeback. Jake Adams finished the night with 26 saves on 30 shots, Robert Kennedy had 33 stops on 35 shots.
