The Central Wisonsin Saints came close to evening the weekend series with the St. Louis Frontenacs, but fell short in overtime. With the win St. Louis has won 5 in a row while the Saints have dropped 6 straight. It is a loss the Saints will not be happy with, but they can remedy the situation Sunday at 10:30 AM in a crucial game 3.

The Saints once again got off to a abysmal start. Andrew Jarvis scored 0:38 seconds into the first which was surprisingly even faster than he scored in game one. Livingston and Busse recorded assists on the goal.

Two minutes later St. Louis struck again. This time Jarvis' shot was tipped on the way to the net by Livingston and past goaltender Jake Adams. Busse was credited with the secondary assist.

Adams, who has missed the last two months with a lower body injury struggled in the first few minutes. He recovered quickly and turned in a great performance in the loss finishing with 32 saves on 36 shots.

Central Wisconsin was able to get one back midway through the first when Brandon Hummel wired a shot from the point far side on Frontenac goaltender Loren Sawyer. Sawyer was screened in front by Mike Mitch. The goal came on the powerplay and was assisted by Max Culp.

The Saints tied the game on a questionable play in the second period. Max Culp banged home a rebound while Jordan Stradtman lay prone and injured in the Saints zone. This occured on the powerplay and St. Louis was upset that the play wasn't stopped due to the injury. Mitch and Jeremy Ebert had the apples.

They took the lead early in the third period on the powerplay once again. Ebert blasted a shot top shelf over the glove of Sawyer. Chase Engdahl and Culp had the assists as on the Saints' third goal.

It looked like Central Wisconsin had a two goal lead on two separate occasions in the third, but both goals were waved off by the officials. Mike Mitch appeared to bat an AJ Mussfeldt shot into the net only to have it waved off. Kyle Harnish and Max Culp combined to get another one in the net but that too did not count.

This made the game tying goal that much harder to bear for the Saints. Jake Adams made a stellar split save and in the process the net was knocked off its moorings. Cameron Durham found the rebound and the puck crossed the line, but the referee did not notice the dislodged net and the goal counted.

Even thought the team lost Chase Engdahl had a great game. He was credited with his second assist of the series and logged major minutes after Hummel was ejected from the game for attacking Coty Flynn after the latter boarded Mike Mitch. Engdahl was on the ice for the entire overtime period.

In the overtime the Saints failed to capitalize on a powerplay opportunity. Shortly thereafter Jay Shifra took a tripping penalty. Jake Adams and the Saints' defense managed to deny three or four great chances, but eventually it was too much and Durham scored his second of the night to seal the win for St. Louis.

The Crucial game 3 will take place Sunday morning at 10:30 AM at KB Willett Arena in Stevens Point, WI.
