CIBA is offering this eight week Coaching Certification Course to all youth area baseball coaches.  You do not have to be a CIBA coach to attend.

The course will provide instruction and coaching tips & techniques in all areas of the game.  You will learn from an MLB professional with over 29 years of experience in coaching, training & managing baseball teams.  It covers everything from the basics, to one of the biggest challenges we face in youth baseball — arm injuries.  Completing this course will give all coaches and assistant coaches the knowledge they need to demonstrate training drills, proper mechanics and concepts to keep our kids safe, healthy and having fun!

COURSE OUTLINE

 

1. Introduction & Basics of Baseball: Review the objective of the game, the field & other key elements

 

2. Hitting: Review all elements of hitting from stance to extension, drills, bunting & mental approach

 

3. Base Running: Review base running, leading off, stealing & sliding

 

4. Defense: Review positions, footwork, throwing, angles, cut off principles, communication & drills

 

5. Pitching: Review all stages of pitching from the stance to release & finish, conditioning & mental approach

 

6. Health & Safety — Arm Injuries:  Review facts about arm injuries, risk factors & prevention techniques

 

7. Health & Safety— Other Issues: Review dietary supplements, steroids, physical & mental risks, heat & hydration, and concussions

 

8. Being a Coach & Conclusion: Review how to run a practice, working with parents, being a role model
