Saints Continue to Tweak Roster, Schedule

Sometimes changes cannot be helped. The Central Wisconsin Saints have announced that a change has been made to their schedule heading into this weekend's home series against the Motor City Chiefs. The game, originally scheduled at 3:00 PM at KB Willett Arena, has been moved to 8:00 PM at the South Wood County Recreation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. The change was brought about due to high school football playoffs in Stevens Point.

While players and fans may be disappointed the change had to be made and now the Saints have the opportunity to play the entire weekend in Rapids. Team Owner Joe Zuniga said "It had to happen, there was no way around the conflicts. But this gives us a chance to expand into Wisconsin Rapids and gives hockey fans in Rapids a chance to see us play more."

Zuniga continues to make changes to his roster that has struggled early in the season. After adding two forwards to the team that have improved the offense, Zuniga is working on other areas of need. He started with a trade for goaltender Lucas Mikulasik who was sent from the Fort Wayne Federals for cash considerations.

Mikulasik was the third goaltender in Fort Wayne and only played in 3 contests. The 6 foot, 150 lb goaltender posted a 4.68 goals against average and a .862 save percentage. Originally from Varnsdorf in the Czech Republic, Mikulasik graduated from Merrill High School in Central Wisconsin. Mikulasik has only one win in his three starts but it came against Central Wisconsin in a 9-1 thrashing. That game gave the Saints' Front Office a chance to see Mikulasik at his best.

It is no secret that Central Wisconsin has struggled to keep pucks out of the net. Of their three goaltenders only Jake Adams has managed to record a win. Adams has carried a lot of the load for the Saints as their number one goalie. Garrett Avery and Mitch Hanson haven't been spectacular in relief as both possess at least a 5.00 goals against average. Mikulasik should help relieve some of the stress on Adams.

The Saints have also signed defenseman Devin Fracassi. Fracassi hails from Palantine, Illinois. He was a strong player for Palantine High School and will join a Saints d-corps that has struggled so far this season. This also means that the Saints will have the ability to sit a defenseman that is playing poorly which should help Head Coach Mark Vichorek coach more effectively. Fracassi will not be active in this weekend's games.
