Saints' Players Reach Milestones
Date: Feb 13, 2012

The Central Wisconsin Saints have made some roster moves as they prepare for their final tryout camo of the summer. Camp opens this Saturday, August 27th and the Saints already have many players under contract. Head Coach Mark Vichorek thinks that the Saints will be able to fill their roster. Interviewed this we Vichorek said "We are looking for at least 24 or 25 players for the year and I think we will reach that goal after this weekend."
In order to clear some space forward John Gagnon was traded to the Fort Wayne Federals for Cash Considerations. Per team policy the specific finacial details of the deal were not disclosed. Gagnon, who scored 5 goals and 10 points in 34 games, was expected to return to the Saints. He missed the first tryout camp due to a family emergency and then decided not to return to Central Wisconsin.
The Saints will be getting another familiar face back. 5'11" forward Kyle Harnish will be returning after a brief stay in Wooster last season. Harnish was the "player to be named later" that sent Nicholas Shoen and himself to Wooster Oilers in return for 5'3" forward Kyle Althen. Althen's contract was traded back to Wooster in return for Harnish. The California native had 9 points in 19 games for the Saints and 19 points in 19 games for the Oilers. Althen had 38 points in 36 games split between the two clubs.
Harnish will join Dan Dellenbach from last year's team. Other players expected to return are Max Culp and Mike Tiberi. Mike Mitch and ironman Ian Dart will be attending camp, but it is unknown whether they will return for another year. Coach Vichorek had this to say on the returning players: "I am so excited for the team and these players to be returning. It makes such a big difference when you have a lot of turn over in teams, especially Junior teams every year and to get quality guys coming back it really means a lot and makes a huge difference because they have been there and done that."
As to what he expects from the players battling for the last few roster spots, he stated "I am looking for kids that want to play and are willing to work hard every day and have some grit. We need hard nosed players that will stick up for each other and be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed as a team. Every player will have a role on this team and some like any team will be called upon to be leaders and help push the rest to be the best they can be no matter what they are asked to do."
"I am expecting the players to be excited to come and get ready for their final tryout and getting ready for the season. I think they may be a bit nervous until some get into school and we get going in practice and in a routine for the season." Said Vichorek, "I think it is important for us to be ready from the first drop of the puck. Like any sport the games at the beginning of a season are just as important as the latter part. You never want your team to lose games at any time during the year. If we can come out fast and continue to improve I think we will be very good and one of the teams to beat and be afraid of."
