Tryouts Day 2

Date:  Source: Central Wisconsin Saints

The Central Wisconsin Saints concluded the first tryout camp of the summer on Sunday morning.

The brief workout was primarily dedicated to another inter-squad scrimmage, the third of camp. The scrimmage began 4-on-4, but was eventually modified to a more physical 3-on-3 half-ice scrimmage.

Players met with head coach Mark Vichorek and GM Joe Zuniga before contracts were signed.

The roster is beginning to take shape as the Saints announced the singings of 11 players, including goaltender Mitchell Hanson and defenseman Dan Dellenbach who were both part of the team who qualified for the Lakes Cup a year ago.

This year’s camp signees are:

D Lucas Romaine a strong, tough player who was playing injured throughout camp. He will add depth to the defense corps.

G Jake Adams an athletic goaltender with good reactions and angles. His quick glove hand will help him as he vies for the starting role.

F Jeremy Ebert will be a good top-6 power forward for the saints. He showed his strength in yesterday’s scrimmages, but really displayed his offensive talents in the game today.

C Chad Sharkey is a forward that produces goals and a lot of them. A pure scorer with a nose for the net, he plays to game with one objective in mind.

F Kenyon Godfrey a stocky forward with good strength and all the tools of a sound fundamental player. Where he will fit in the lineup remains to be seen.

D Antonio Falcon is a physical player with a good first pass. He will be a good depth defenseman if he can work on his skating.

F Colin Van Hauter is a tall and fast winger. He has good hands and is able to finish. He has a great hockey sense and is able to get the jump on defenders who lose track of him on breakouts.

D Jevret Giese is another tall player with a long stride. When he accelerates it is hard to catch him and he makes good passes. He could be a good mid-pairing defenseman in Central Wisconsin.

G Garret Avery is a very solid goaltender with good lateral movement. His penchant for the desperation stop will be huge as he competes for the starting spot.

Central Wisconsin will fill the remaining open positions during a second tryout camp that will be held August 20-21 at K.B. Willett Arena.

The Saints have also announced the signing of forward Jordan Mathys.
