Be-Deviled Blue by Specialty Teams

When you give up 5 power play goals and 2 shorties, a loss is bound to happen and it did last evening in London.  The Pacers were more than an even match for London when playing 5 on 5, outscoring the Blue Devils by a 6-1 margin. However, they faltered badly when short handed and found their power play stymied, going 1 for 9 with the man advantage and giving up two short-handed markers.  Even stranger were some of the calls on the floor.

Sarnia jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the game was six minutes old on markers by Kevin Conroy and Dan Charlton.  London replied with two of their own - the first a shortie, the second a power play goal - in the second half of the period and the teams went to the dressing rooms tied at two each.

London took the lead for the first time in the game early in the second stanza on the only goal they scored while the teams were even. Dan Gawne tied up the game with an end-to-end run and the teams were notched at three.  Bennet of London gave the home crowd something to cheer about just over 11 minutes in with yet another PP goal but TJ Mara bulged the twine just under a minute later and the game was tied again. Another shortie was put on the board by London at the 16:14 mark and the Blue Devils held the lead until Kevin Conroy tied the game again with 55 seconds remaining.

The Pacers opened the scoring during the final 20 minutes of play on a Mitch Doughty marker but found the lead short-lived.  London's Muszak found a way to bulge the twine just over three minutes later (again on the PP) and the teams were notched at 6 goals each.  TJ Mara scored his second of the evening with just over 10 minutes to go while the Pacers enjoyed the man advantage. Replying with two power play goals of their own for London were Bennett and Muszak, the latter coming with just over 2 minutes remaining in the period.  Three seconds after London scored the go-ahead marker, Sarnia found themselves killing off yet another penalty which pretty much ended any hopes of the Pacers tying up the game
