There is no joy in Pacertown

Date:  Source: Sarnia Pacers

Over 300 attended last night's contest, one of the largest crowds the club has seen in recent times and it was the hometown fans that left the arena disappointed. It was a spirited and physical play with the Pacers holding the lead for pretty much most of the game. It was only in the final 5 or 6 minutes that they let their guard down a bit and that was all it took for Wallaceburg to reel off 6 goals in a row and take home the two points.

Sarnia opened the scoring on a Dan Charlton marker just 64 seconds into the contest.  By the end of 20 minutes of play, the Pacers took a 3-2 lead into the dressing room with goals by Josh Eldredge & Aaron Schieman.  Two of the three goals were scored while the Pacers enjoyed the man advantage and the third, from Schieman, was a shortie.

During the second stanza it was more of the same, with Sarnia's Jimmy Purves opening and closing the scoring giving his team a 2 goal lead (8-6)  after 40 minutes of play.  Also getting two marker for the Pacers was team leading scorer Dan Charlton with a single from Kevin Conroy.  The second from Purves was scored with just under 5 seconds remaining in the period and goaltender Justin Matthews off the floor for an extra attacker.

In the 3rd period, Sarnia extended their lead to four on back-to-back Aaron Schieman goals.  It seemed like the Pacers had control of the game but the Red Devils just wouldn't go away quietly into that good night.  Instead, they reeled off six unanswered goals, two of them with the man advantage.  It would be that final power play goal with 29 seconds remaining that sealed the deal for the visitors, much to the delight of the large contingent of Red Devil fans.

MVPs of the game were Rob Pollock (3g 4a) for Wallaceburg while Aaron Schieman (3g) got the nod for the Pacers.

Coming into town on Sunday May15th are the Elora Mohawks with a game start of 4pm.  Join us at Clearwater Arena Blue and cheer on YOUR Sarnia Pacers.
