A hat trick by Mitch Atkins was the highlight in Winter Hawks' 6-3 win against the Brantford 99ers.

Atkins' first goal came 16:05 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:14 into the third and at 19:11 into the third.

The Cambridge Winter Hawks' penalty kill excelled, as Cambridge gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Winter Hawks' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game Cambridge had been spending in the box. The Winter Hawks' offense rang up 43 shots on Brantford's net. Cambridge outdid its season average for goals scored. The Winter Hawks average 3.0 goals per game.

Cambridge additionally got points from Maxime Lamontagne, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cambridge included Kalob Witzell and Yanni Skropolis (AP), who each put in one. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Alex Bottigoni, who had two and Emmerson Small, Tyler Mellish, Kyle Liu, and Jake Moggy, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cambridge power plays. Brantford forced Cambridge goalie Lucas Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The 99ers were helped by Matthew Woods, who had one goal. Woods scored 14:08 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Cambridge. Cole Cummings assisted on the tally. Brantford also got points from Guy Polillo, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Gus Ford, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Evan Bidenti and Keegan Alvestad, who contributed one each.

The Winter Hawks' Machalski stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. For Cambridge, Ben St Marseille was ejected from the game. Mathieu Kingsley rejected 37 shots on goal for Brantford. The 99ers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Brantford, David Storey and Brett Parsons were ejected from the contest.
