Daniel Beaudoin lifted the LaSalle Vipers to a 9-5 victory with a hat trick against the Lambton Shores Predators.
Beaudoin got on the scoresheet 5:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:31 into the first and at 7:27 into the second.LaSalle's penalty kill excelled, as the Vipers gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.
LaSalle's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Vipers surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. LaSalle forced Lambton Shores' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 52 shots and forcing 43 saves. Anthony Hurtubise made 27 stops and Andrew Harriman-Duke made 16. The Vipers stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LaSalle bested its season scoring average. The Vipers have scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. LaSalle's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
LaSalle also got points from Chris Pignanelli, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Brett Primeau, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for LaSalle included Brendan Harrogate, who had two and Nick Gauvin and Nikko Sablone, who scored one goal each. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Korey Morgan, who had three, Brett Langlois, Nathan Savage, Brendan McGhee, Connor Rosaasen, and Dalton Langlois, who contributed one each, and Manny Silverio and Graham Pickard, who each chipped in two.
Lambton Shores racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Predators had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lambton Shores forced the Vipers goalie Eli Billing to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. The Predators found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Lambton Shores averages 2.9 goals per game.
The Predators were led by Brenden Trottier, who racked up one goal and three assists. Trottier scored 6:43 into the third period to make the score 7-4 LaSalle. Colin Burns assisted on the tally. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Burns, who also had one goal and one assist and Ethan Sarfati, who also registered one goal and two assists. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Brett Corrigan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Ryan Fraser, who had two and Austin Fetterly and Gino Mini, who contributed one each.
Billing recorded 48 saves for LaSalle. The Vipers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. LaSalle ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McGhee was ejected from the game. For Lambton Shores, Luke McEachnie was ejected from the game.
