FLORIDA EELS ELITE TEAM ANNOUNCES MAJOR SIGNINGS

The Florida Eels announce major signings that include new veterans joining the Eels and newly acquired highly skilled rookies to its program.  The Eels Elite team have signed Garrett Wood, from the Steele County Blades who had 20 points last season, 7 goals and 13 assists.  Garrett Wood is an extremely skilled forward who has impressed the Eels coaching staff with his strong skill set that includes, his insatiable appetite to score, drive to the net, his natural ability to score, his passion to play and his exceptional defensive skills.  Then there is Liam McKee from Boston, who has joined us from the USPHL Boston Breakers.  Liam has been one of the hardest workers at training camp.  He is a very determined young man who has heart and drive and has been scoring since day one at training camp.  Liam has shown us he is a strong two-way player.  He has a great work ethic and never quits.  Then there is rookie, Jeff O’Dea who came to us from Belle Tire.  Last season, Jeff scored 26 goals and had 22 assists for a total of 48 points.  Jeff is a very talented young man who has great vision, speed, as well as being a very determined and dedicated player.  He has a great character and is a true team player.  Jeff has nice hands and can thread the needle as a threat up front.  We expect him to be one of the league’s premier goals scorers this season.

On the blue line, the Eels have brought in veteran defenseman, Cory Richardson.  Cory is a very good two-way D-man.  He had 28 points for the Colorado Eagles in the WSHL league last year.  He has a great first step in getting the puck out of the D-Zone, and is very smart and talented in puck movement and carrying the play leading the rush.  Cory is also very offensive minded.  He controls the blue line in the offensive zone posing a serous scoring threat every time he is on the ice.  He is great in all three zones and shows enormous composure inside the D-Zone making intelligent plays.  Cory will be one of our key guys to replace Brien Thompson and Cody Rodgers who have both moved on to play NCAA Division III college hockey at Nichols College.  Another strong defenseman is Colin Whitt.  Colin came to us from the Texas Tornado U18AAA program and had 26 points last season.  Coach Bloomingburg is very impressed with his defensive abilities.  Colin also possesses phenomenal composure and poise in our defensive pairings.  He is great on the penalty kill and settling things down.  The other top recruited playing joining the Eels this season is rookie, Brandon Halvorsen.  Brandon has great size standing at 6’03” and weighs 215 lbs.  He was very impressive at training camp earning a spot on the Eels USPHL Elite squad.  Despite his young age, Brandon has great composure and poise in the D-Zone, he doesn’t panic and he is a major asset to the team.  We are sure that Brandon will be one of the up and coming top rookies in the entire USPHL this season.
