ALEX SANCHEZ RETURNS TO THE EELS ELITE TEAM
Another piece of the 2014-15 Florida Eels Building block has been laid yesterday with the return of Alex Sanchez to the program. Alex is 5’10” 180 pounds who shots left. Sanchez has played for the Florida Eels Elite team for the past two seasons and comes to us as a 3rd year veteran despite only being a 1995 dob. Last season Sanchez had 7 goals and 16 assists during the regular season. This year we expect him to take advantage of what he learned from the Eels over his last two years of training and increase those numbers.
Coach Bloomingburg says, “He is a high energy forward who fiercely battles every time he is on the ice. Alex goes hard into the corners and uses his body very effectively in all three zones” As coach Frankie says. “He is very difficult to play against. He loves to drive to the net with his hard nose play and not afraid to grind it out in the corners.” Bloomingburg continued, “Alex knows how to create offense and exemplifies great leadership. He was assistant captain last season and played a large part in the Eels Elite team’s accomplishments which included winning the Florida Division 2 years in a row and last year’s USPHL Southern Conference title.”
Sanchez returns with two goals and a mission. “Win a National Championship and earn a spot on a NCAA men’s college hockey team next season. I came back to the Eels because I know this is the only place I want to be. I love the coaching staff and the management. These people have taught me so much and allowed me to grow and mature and become the player and person I am.” GM Scarpaci says he is “thrilled to have brought Alex back. He is a kid who will go through a wall for us. This guy will enormously help our Elite team and with his presence we become very deep up front. “ Alex came to us from our Midwest scout John Paris Jr who coached in QMJHL and is the chief scout for the WHL Victoria team. John Paris has given the Eels some of our top players over the years and Alex is no exception. One thing for sure we know we are getting high quality players when John sends them to us and we are thrilled to have gotten Alex three years ago.
