THE BATTLE FOR WESTERN FLORIDA

On Saturday at 5:15 pm the Empire teams squares off in Ellenton. Then immediately following the Empire games, the Elite teams do battle at 8:30 pm. In fact this is the first contest between the two organizations since the Eels Empire team and Eels Elite team knocked the Tampa Juniors out of the playoffs last February.
Last season all of the games were fiercely competitive with a playoff atmosphere from game one to the end of the season right into the playoffs.
 
Sunday the teams bring the games back to the Fort Myers Skatium. The Empire games at 9:00 am and the Elite at 11:45 am. This year the Tampa Juniors will be missing their key forwards over the last 3 years Tommy Whitely (playing pro hockey) and Paul Lockner (playing NCAA Div. 3 hockey) both guys were the spark plugs for the Tampa Juniors Regardless, GM Scarpaci predicts that Tampa will be quite strong once again. He knows his colleague Brett Stoutt will be fielding a very strong team once again.
 
We are pretty excited about our guys says Coach Jason and Frankie. They have been working really hard getting the boys in shape for the season.. We have had some good inter squad scrimmages, two league games and two college exhibition games to get us in game form. So we are confident  but cautious . We have a lot to do as the season is young and our players are still trying to find one another.
